The Golden Cicada is a photographic project woven by darkroom techniques, natural inspiration, and personal experience. In the creation of each photograph, the darkroom becomes a place for the extension of my personal experience, and the control of colours is sometimes disordered and spontaneous, like the delicate changes of personal experiences and emotions. The malleability of the colour background conveys the fluidity of personal experience and emotion, not as a stack of images, but as a deep exploration of craftsmanship and transient beauty.
In this exploratory project, the use of the negative as a medium achieves a refined balance between personal emotion and technique. This creative approach is both a review of the past and an organic expression of the present. Through the unique treatment of negatives, Mingyue seeks to capture emotions and subtleties that are difficult to express with modern technology. Each creation in the darkroom is a unique exploration, capturing the essence of a moment beyond the purely visual presentation, and triggering the viewer to think deeply about traditional photographic processes and personal emotions.
